Corrections and Removal Policy
The short version
Starcast records public facts: who appeared on which public podcast episode. We fix mistakes quickly. We remove photos and bios on request. We don't hide real public appearances, with a few clear exceptions for safety and privacy.
What we'll always fix
- Wrong credits: you're listed on an episode you weren't on, or as a host when you were a guest.
- Mix-ups: two different people merged into one page, or one person split across two.
- Wrong photo: a photo of someone else, or a photo you don't want used.
- Not a person: a show title or phrase mistakenly listed as a person.
Most fixes go live with the next nightly update.
What we'll remove on request
- Your photo. We'll replace it with initials.
- Bio text and links we added.
What stays
Real appearances on public episodes stay listed, the same way a book's author page lists the books they wrote. The record of what aired is what makes Starcast useful and fair, and letting anyone erase their history would make it neither.
Exceptions: when we remove a person entirely
We remove a person's page and every appearance when:
- they are a minor;
- they are a private individual (not a public figure, host or regular guest) who appeared once and asks to be removed;
- the listing puts someone at risk (for example harassment or stalking concerns);
- a court order or law requires it.
We may also remove an appearance the show itself has deleted from its feed.
Podcast owners
If you own a show and don't want it in Starcast's people graph, email us from the address in your feed's owner details and we'll remove it from the People Index. Listeners can still subscribe to it, like in any podcast app.
How to ask
Email support@starcastapp.com with:
- the person or show's name, and the episode if it's about one;
- what's wrong, or what you'd like removed;
- if you're asking about yourself, a way to confirm it's you (an email from your known website or a post from a verified social account).
Or, for simple mistakes, tap Report a problem on the page in the app. No account needed.
We aim to reply within 5 business days and to fix clear mistakes within 2 business days. Safety-related requests are handled first.
Copyright (photos and text)
If you believe something in Starcast uses your copyrighted work without permission, email support@starcastapp.com with: the work, where it appears in Starcast, your contact details, a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized, a statement that your notice is accurate and that you're the owner or authorized to act for them (under penalty of perjury), and your signature. We'll remove the material and let whoever supplied it respond.
